 Notification Emails

Dennis,
Is there a way to set my global preferences to NOT get the emails everytime someone responds to a thread that I have posted to? I don't always remember to check the Notify box for no followup email and I would check it every single time if I remembered it, so a global default would suit me.

I like the notify option box, but it seems that the default is to send the notification email.

The problem for me is email overload. I often get more than a hundred emails a day. I have built a filter to separate out the CTB routine emails. But on some days I get an additional 30 or more of them. They just get deleted. If I could set my global default to not notify me, I would do that.

Yup, I agree. Longer term I am thinking of changing the way this works to be a global setting by userid.

For now here is what I did:

On All "followup messages" the default has been changed to:
-do not notify
-do not show my email

On All "New Topic messages" the default will be:
-notify
-show my email

People who answer questions most times frequent the board often and will have to change the setting for the few times they want it. While people who are asking a question will have it set the opposite, which is what most people asking questions probably want.

All Registered Members can edit their individual messages to change these settings at any time. Which reminds me that I should add a utility that changes all your message based preferences to one way or the other as well.

Dennis...
I still do not get more than about 25% of the email notifications relative to the postings given / responded to. I read your last post, regarding the "for now" change that you made. I figured, well, maybe I should check/change these settings accordingly, just in case this is where the problem lies. When I try to change, I immediately get a pop-up white screen that alarms me of "Internal Server Error". I back out of the page and try again, to the same result. What can I do to recieve email not's?

- Willie H.

Willie,

I changed your userid:

Was: WillieH.
Is : WillieH

No period at the end, let's see if that changes anything.

Be sure to login to test things, or you will have problems.

What Operating System?, Browser? Version ? are you using.

Occasionally, we have had some latency ussues with mail delivery when I use the TractorPoint email source. So that some messages get delivered hours or even a day late.

Dennis
